Pulsamérica is a volunteer run organisation – all our posts are unpaid.
We are currently looking for writers to join Pulsamérica’s news team. The country posts available are Colombia, Peru, Haiti, Costa Rica, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic.
Pulsamérica is a broadreaching, ambitious online project that seeks to bring hispanic and lusophone culture to an English speaking audience.
The project encapsulates the news site ‘Pulsamérica’ that provides weekly country-by-country digests of Latin American news, a vibrant blog and editorial platform, and ‘Palabras Errantes’ a literary webzine that translates published authors on the continent for the first time.
Between the 3 projects, over 40 people worldwide contribute to this energetic, exciting body of work. Pulsamérica alumni have gone on to work in media, journalism and policy-making in the UK, USA and Latin America.
Applicants will have excellent Spanish, or in the case of Haiti, French. They should have a broad understanding of the country they wish to cover and be able to commit to writing a 500 word article once a week.
If you would like to apply, please write to Paul Merchant at paulmerchant1@gmail.com with a CV, cover letter and an example of your writing. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Features:
Pulsamérica runs weekly features published on a Wednesday. These give our writers the opportunity to explore ideas in greater detail, in a forum that is both partial and polemical. The articles should aim to weave together analysis, opinion and experience and be written from a clear and definable perspective.
We’re open to pitches on almost any subject as long as they relate in some sense to Latin America. Articles should be around 500-1500 words long. If you have any ideas and are keen to contribute please get in touch at paulmerchant1@gmail.com.
